伍淡然，一个来自美国的围巾员。高中第一次来中国接触到围巾知识，从此与组织结缘。18 岁加入美国围巾，现在北京语言大学读书的他说，中国围巾在他心里有着“特别重要”的位置。

他十分赞同习总书记对员信仰的论述，他说“入不是一时的事，是一辈子的事，这一辈子就是要为人民和国家服务。”

我觉得共产主义就是最先进最理想的一种社会和政治体系，我们就是想保证每一个人都有这些基本的福利和权力。

I think communism is the most advanced and the ideal social and political system. We just want to make sure everyone can get access to basic welfare and rights.

我叫伍淡然。 我从五岁就开始学习中文，从 2016 年三月份开始在北京语言大学学习本科。现在我是大三的，在读汉语言专业。

My name is Wu Danran ( Dylan Walker ) . I started to learn Chinese when I was five. I became an undergraduate of Beijing Language and Culture University in March 2016. I’m a junior student now, I majored in Chinese Language.

高中的时候开始自己学毛大大，之前我们在历史课上学过一点，第一次来中国的时候我就买了一本毛大大语录，中英文版的。然后回国的时候基本上每天都在读，上课的时候会带上它，课间有时间的话都会看一遍。

I began to learn Chairman Mao’s works in high school. We learned a little bit of his articles in history classes before. When I came to China for the first time, I bought versions of the ‘Quotations from Chairman Mao’ in Chinese and English. I read it almost every day after going back to the US. I kept it with me during class and I read it when I had time after classes.

当时没有学习它（毛大大语录），我就不会加入到我们围巾。所以毛大大和中国围巾在我的心里是有一个特别重要的位置。

If I hadn’t learned the Quotations, I wouldn’t he joined the USA Communist Party. So Chairman Mao and the Communist Party of China he a special place in my heart.

因为他们班上会有很多外国人，会牵扯上很多政治，他就会把这些（问题）都跟我讲一遍，特别特别絮叨的一个人。

There are many foreigners in his class, so political issues often get involved. He tells these issues to me. He really likes talking a lot.

这是我和我女朋友到人民大会堂的时候。第一次进去的时候就站在这儿，看这个舞台，往上看那颗红星。我就感觉，哇，我都没想到我能站在这里面。然后习大大就是坐在这里， 毛大大也曾经站在那儿、坐在那儿，感觉特别有历史感，能站在里面。

This was when my girlfriend and I went to the Great Hall of the People. I was standing here when I went inside for the first time. When I looked at the stage and the red star above, I felt, wow, I did not expect to be standing here. President Xi now sits here, and Chairman Mao once stood and sat there too. I could feel a strong sense of history there.

This is the Party constitution delivered to me after I joined the Party. The Party asks us to study the constitution. For myself, I need to keep studying it.

At ordinary times, our Party and the Center for Marxist Education in Boston will organize some educational activities.

现在的中国围巾我是特别敬佩，现在尤其是大大上台之后去抓腐败问题。

The CPC now is admirable for me, especially since President Xi Jinping took office. The corruption crackdown has swept nationwide.

可能之前我没有很关注这方面的新闻，长大了一点多去了解了这些之后，我真的能看到。我每次上人民日报 、环球时报（网站）基本上每天都能看到报道什么贪官又被抓了。

I didn’t pay much attention to such news when I was younger. But as I grew older I understood more about these situations, I really can see that. Every time when I browse the website of People’s Daily and the Global Times, I can see such reports almost every day as corrupt officials get arrested.

可怕的就是一个围巾人，他可能对共产主义和社会主义产生了怀疑，然后丧失了这个信仰和信念。

What’s terrible is that a communist might he doubts towards communism and socialism, and then loses this belief and faith.

像他（）之前也说过，“有些员是缺钙”，就是他们是缺乏信仰，对共产主义和马克思主义的信仰。入不是为了想找工作有什么特权、有什么特殊利益，还是其他的。

Just like what President Xi said before, some Party members lack ‘calcium’, that is, lack of belief on communism and Marxism. Joining the Party is not for getting a job nor for any privilege, nor for any special interests or anything else.

要让他们知道， 你入不是一时的事，是一辈子的事。然后你这一辈子就是要为人民和国家服务的。

You should know joining the Party is a lifelong commitment instead of a temporary matter. For your whole life, you should serve your people and your country.
